Fundraising!

We will need to raise over €80,000 to build and complete the playground!

Some of the money will come via grants from SECAD and Cork County Council.  However, our community will need to raise in excess of €25,000 in order to complete the playground.

As you can imagine, this is a huge sum to raise, but luckily, some funding is available.  We hope to raise the money using a combination of grants, and local fundraising.

January 2009.

At this stage we have sourced tenders for equipment and design of the playground.  We are in the process of securing a suitable site, and getting ready to begin this project.

May 2009.

Glenbower Wood & Lake Ltd has kindly agreed to use part of the land in Glenbower Wood for the development of the playground.

July 2009.

The playground committee are submitting an application for planning permission this month to Cork County Council.  This is a very big step on the way to our new playground.

August 2009.

We had an extremely successful BBQ fundraiser at Gazebo’s outside Killeagh.  In one evening we raised almost €6,000

Big Barbecue!

September 2009.

We have applied for planning permission.  Two months for processing the application, and one month for appeals.  So, hopefully by December we’ll know where we stand.

October 2009.

We have applied to SECAD for funding for the playground.  Also in progress is the setting up of a company (charitable status) to manage the construction and take over the playground when it is built.  This company will report to the Community Council.
