Progress to Date: August 2010 There’s been a lot of work this year! (And sorry for not keeping this updated) The playground has planning permission, and Cork County Council has agreed to take over the maintenance once the playground is built. This means that we now qualify to apply for funding from South and East Cork Area Development (SECAD) Hopefully we will get news of funding in September. 22nd August 2009. Big Barbecue! Keep an eye out for tickets for this barbecue. It will be held at Gazebo’s on August The BBQ starts at 8 PM, so look forward to seeing you there! July 2009. The playground committee are submitting an application for planning permission this month to Cork County Council. This is a very big step on the way to our new playground. May 2009. Glenbower Trust has kindly agreed to use part of the land in Glenbower Wood for the development of the playground. January 2009. At this stage we have sourced tenders for equipment and design of the playground. We are in the process of securing a suitable site, and getting ready to begin this project. 2009 - Dates to be announced. Fundraising! We will need to raise over €80,000 to build and complete the playground! Some of the money will come via grants from SECAD and Cork County Council. However, our community will need to raise in excess of €25,000 in order to complete the playground. As you can imagine, this is a huge sum to raise, but luckily, some funding is available. We hope to raise the money using a combination of grants, and local fundraising. August 2009. We had an extremely successful BBQ fundraiser at Gazebo’s outside Killeagh. In one evening we raised almost €6,000 September 2009. We have applied for planning permission. Two months for processing the application, and one month for appeals. So, hopefully by December we’ll know where we stand. October 2009. We have applied to SECAD for funding for the playground. Also in progress is the setting up of a company (charitable status) to manage the construction and take over the playground when it is built.
